FP7 Seminar on Marine Sciences: MariFish involved

The MariFish and MarinERA Coordinators (John Lock and Maurice Héral) attended and participated in the seminar "Marine Science and Technology in the 7th Research Framework Programme", which was organised jointly by the European Commission DG RTD and IGLO (Informal Group of RTD Liaison Offices).

PhotoThe seminar, which was held at the Auditorium of Natural Science Museum in Brussels on the 16th January, provided an opportunity to discuss funding opportunities for marine science and technology under FP7.

In their presentation the Coordinators highlighted the many benefits that are emerging from their projects including exchanging details on national research programmes, identifying areas of common interest and gaps, and improving the planning and commissioning of research. Both ERA-NETs plan to involve partners in identifying priority areas and funding collaborative research projects. The Coordinators emphasised that these two marine-based ERA-NETs will be working closely together, sharing experiences as the networks develop, and the results from their respective work packages. They will also explore the possibility of funding collaborative projects in tandem.
