Partner 12: Greece, Ministry of Development, General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT)

The General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT) is part of the Ministry of Development that is the government body responsible for policy with regards to research and technology in Greece.  Within the Greek National Fisheries Research system, GSRT is responsible for providing funding for research and development of projects through open calls of interest.  Areas of science included in these programmes include:

• Fisheries Management
• Marine Environment
• Aquaculture

The annual budget allocated to these programmes is €1.5M.  According to the overall government scheme, there is a synergy in marine fisheries management among the Ministry of Development - through GSRT – and the Ministry of Rural Development and Food (former Ministry of Agriculture).
