The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries is responsible for national and EU-policy within agriculture and Fisheries and is – together with the Ministry of Family and Consumer Affairs - responsible for the overall policy on Food safety and quality.

The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries has responsibility for fisheries management including leading negotiations in relation to the CFP. The Directorate for Food, Fisheries and Agri Business parties the department within the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, which is responsible for the implementation of policies within development, financing and managing research in relation to agriculture, fisheries and the processing of products from these industries, and structural adjustment.
